My Current Favorites
I’ve written a few “favorites” posts before (You can read HERE and HERE,) but today is my first one on MY current favorites.
Sometimes as parents, we forget to check in and see what we like because we’re so focused on the kids. I mean I can’t remember the last time I saw a movie with “real” people in it. Oh wait. Does Paddington Bear count? I mean Nicole Kidman was in it after all.
Anyways, here’s a list of my current favorites, and I dare say some have become almost obsessions. For example:
Current Favorites: TV Shows
The Affair
I seriously am obsessed with this show. It’s got romance, mystery, murder, and beautiful scenery (including the people in it!) In the first season, each episode was split into 2 parts, with one part told from the main character, Alison’s point of view, and the other from her fellow adulterer, Noah’s point of view.
I’ve already binged through the entire first season, and am now into season 2, which also has story lines from Alison’s ex-husband Cole (played by the once love of my life Joshua Jackson aka Pacey from Dawson’s Creek,) and Noah’s ex-wife, Helen.
I only have a few episodes left, and I’m not only trying to get through them fast because I want to know what happens next, but because we only have a one month free trial of Showtime for our Roku subscription.
Anyways, if you have Showtime or can get the free trial streaming, I highly recommend this show. Plus, it has a creepy, awesome theme song at the beginning by Fiona Apple which rivals the theme song by Regina Spektor for OITNB. Trust me on this.
Shameless
Also, from our free Showtime trial, we’re currently in season 5 (season 6 starts this weekend,) of this crazy, family drama/comedy. It’s an awesome ensemble cast staring William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum.
It’s the story of a very messed up family living in Chicago, all led by their very drunk and disaster of a father, who is played by Macy. It has some dark moments, but a lot of laugh out loud funny ones too. You can even get the first few seasons at your local library for free (which is how we started watching it.)
It’s based on a British show of the same name, which you can find on Netflix. I’ve never watched the original, but I’ve heard it’s even better.

Shopaholic to the Rescue
I’ve been reading this series by Sophie Kinsella since I was pregnant with my oldest, and this is the latest (but hopefully not last,) book in the series.
It’s a really fast read with some romance, silly situations, and always a lot of shopping…which you know I love. It’s great for when you are looking for a fun escape.
Current Favorites: Food and Drink
Even though I’m eating healthy, I still need to have chocolate in my life. I could seriously not live without chocolate. So, as a snack, I often have Zone Perfect Bars. They taste like candy bars to me, but they have 12 grams of protein, so they keep you full longer. My favorite flavor is the dark chocolate almond. Yum.
Even though I should be drinking water all the time, I find myself drinking a lot of tea. My currents favorites when it comes to tea are from Starbucks. Instead of spending a ton of money going through the drive-thru (which I still do on occasion,) I buy the boxes and make my own. I love the Awake Black Tea to make Iced tea, and the Classic Chai with Cashew Milk for hot.
Have you tried Cashew Milk?! I used to be a big fan of Almond Milk until I tried the Cashew. Now, I’m hooked. It’s only 25 calories for a cup, and it’s so creamy. Plus, I can still get my calcium.
Current Favorites: Planner
I finally got a planner I really love, thanks to my mom. I know it’s not fancy or professional, but I love all Hello Kitty, so this is perfect. Just seeing her cute little face makes me smile. Plus, now I can get more organized.
Current Favorites: Workout
Bootcamp
If you had asked me a couple of weeks ago, it would have been Zumba. I was really loving all the dancing and the music, but it completely depends on the instructor. The one I really like only teaches once a week, so I’ve had to look for other classes.
That’s how I found Bootcamp.
It’s different every week, I sweat like crazy during it, and it really challenges my whole body. I always feel like I get a really great workout. It also gives me a great mix of cardio and strength. Weights have made all the difference in my fitness routine.

Sorel boots
I don’t own these, but I want to. I’m waiting for a good sale. In Wisconsin, it’s mandatory that you have boots for the winter, so they might as well be cute.
Hoodies and Yoga Pants
I know this looks like a pretty typical “mom” uniform, but I need to be comfortable, and since I’m usually at the gym in the morning, I’ve been adding more workout gear to my wardrobe. I love this classic Adidas hoodie, and Champion pants fit and wear well.
I wish I could add more to the list, like music or current movie, but there’s really only so much time in the day when my kids aren’t demanding all my attention. Of course, really hot showers, red wine, and 7 PM (the twins’ bedtime) are not just current favorites, but all time favorites.

I love the tazo teas! And I was curious about those books because I saw them pop up on my GoodReads a couple of times lately.
They are a little silly, but I love them 🙂
I haven’t heard of either of those shows! But it’s probably because we don’t have Showtime. We only get HBO-for Game of Thrones of course! I love those yoga pants and the boots!! I need to try that chocolate almond bar-I’m really working on eating healthier too.
Your planner is sooo cute! Also my bf and I are in the middle of season one of the affair… it is SO GOOD! And doesn’t it just make you want to take a trip to Long Island? You’re absolutely right–the scenery almost becomes an additional character, doesn’t it?

I actually subscribed to Showtime through Amazon Prime JUST to watch The Affair (and Homeland). I binge watched and LOVED the show.

Your favorite list sounds awesome and Shameless is also one of my favorite show these days but I am also following new seasons of The Big Bang theory and Modern Family. I have also bought Adidas hoodie during Black Friday Sale and it makes me feel good when I am sweating at the Gym. 🙂

I’ve watched a couple episodes of The Affair and it’s so good! I am addicted to Homeland, but the season is over. I still love my Starbucks coffee but wish I could break that habit because it gets expensive…might trying switching back to Tazo because it’s so yummy 🙂

I am a big fan of the Shopahaulic books. Tazo teas are our family’s favorites. My mom just got my oldest those exact same boots! Good news is we are the same size. Yoga pants…love my yoga pants.

I love The Affair. I haven’t watched it lately and am only on season 1 but I did like it; thanks for reminding me. I’ve been watching The Gilmore Girls. I never watched it growing up so I’m making up for lost time.
