I still can’t believe they are 4-years-old. Today, is the twins’ golden birthday.
4 years ago, May 4th was a Friday. I had just spent over a week in the hospital being constantly monitored. When Little P’s heart decelerated and wouldn’t come back up, it was time. I still remember the doctor asking me if I wanted to do everything I could to save my babies, and then “book an ER.” It was like a scene out of a movie. A very scary movie.
I had no time to call my husband or my mom. I was completely alone, and scared out of my mind. I had one surgery before in my life, which was getting my tonsils out. Now, they were cutting off my clothes, rolling me onto a cold operating table, and about to put me under. The last thing I remember was praying to God that both my babies would be alive when I woke up.
Within seconds of each other, Baby A and Baby B were born on May 4th, 2012 weighing 1 lb 7 oz and 2 lbs 2 oz. They wouldn’t have names for a few weeks, but they were alive, and I could breathe a tiny sigh of relief.
With a rough start, and many ups and downs, they are now healthy, active 4-year-olds. They are sweet, they are curious, and they are naughty. Just your average 4-year-old twin boys. Who knew we would be so happy with average?
Here’s a look back at the twins from some memorable times….after they got out of the hospital.
Happy, Happy 4th Birthday on your Golden Birthday. We love you very much!
