I totally had a case of the “Mondays” this morning. All three kiddos were super cranky because they stayed up late, yet got up at their normal time of 6 am. I didn’t even get the normal hugs and snuggles before someone was in tears or screaming.
That’s not entirely why I was in a blah mood, though. I haven’t been getting a great response to my fundraising efforts for the March of Dimes, and we don’t have nearly as many team members signed up this year as we did last year. The thing that has been bothering me the most, is that people don’t even bother to respond back to my messages or emails. I mean I completely understand if you are busy or have no money to donate, but just send me a quick, “Can’t help you out this year,” or “Sorry, can’t make it.” I’ve learned through throwing personal events, people are terrible at RSVP’s, but this is for charity, so I can’t give up. I won’t give up.
(the link to donate is in the picture below…see, not giving up!)
So, instead of wallowing and crying in my cold tea, I decided to refocus and get to work. I created a group on Facebook and added all my friends, then had my husband do the same. This way, people will have to “opt-out” rather than “join” or “like” a page. Then, to my surprise, I got some responses to help. I had 3 wonderful women volunteer to do fundraiser parties for me with their businesses. I also got offers for some donations, so I decided to run an Online Auction. I’ve almost wrapped up my last auction (to benefit the Walker and Willis Fight Against TTTS,) and we made $885!!!!! I’m hoping that I can at least make half of that for the March of Dimes, since I just got done bugging people to bid on my last auction. Fingers crossed!
I also started calling local restaurants to see if I can do a fundraising night. I haven’t got a “yes” yet, but no “no’s” either. I’ll keep you posted on that.
Now for some other good news…
My oldest had his parent/teacher conference last week. Yes, I know he is only in Preschool, but it was still kind of exciting. My husband met me there, and I had brought all three kiddos since they said there would be childcare available. I don’t think they were expecting my boys. However, I also brought my Dad, so it was all good.
The twins and my oldest played nicely in the basement, and me and my husband met with his teacher. She had such nice things to say! She told us how creative he is, and that he has a great vocabulary. She also told us how polite he is, and that he always cleans up after himself.
Wait. What? Are you sure this is my child you are talking about? The same one whose bedroom I can’t get into because toys are blocking the entrance? Hmmm. Interesting.
Well, I guess it’s good he cleans up somewhere!
