Rummage Success and Lazy Sunday

September 28, 2014 By Shann Leave a Comment

Phew.  I’m one exhausted lady.

The rummage sale is done!!!!  I was pretty happy with the money I made, but I do still have quite a few big items left.  They are keeping their tags on and waiting for the Spring Rummage, along with the rest of the clothes.  So, at least I’ll have a head start on the tagging and hanging!

Being a first-time seller at the Twins Club Rummage, I learned a lot for the next time.

1.  Bring all your sale clothes in totes/boxes organized by size.

It then makes it a lot easier to bring them in and hang them up.  I had to strategically shove mine in empty spots in my car because of all the big, awkward baby gear ( Jumparoo, Exersaucer, etc.)  So, I should add…

2.  Borrow a mini van, truck, or other vehicle bigger than mine if have to bring awkward baby gear again.

3.  Wear comfortable clothes and bring plenty of snacks.

The set-up, actual rummage, and take-down made for some long hours.  Luckily, I did wear my “mom uniform” which is my sneakers and yoga pants, so I was good.  We also ordered pizza on Friday night, but Saturday I should have brought more snacks…and CAFFEINE (Chocolate!!!)

3.  Practice your math.

It’s been a loooooong time since I’ve worked a cash register and given change.  The woman working with me could definitely tell.  Luckily, she had prepared so when I looked panicked, she stepped in.

4.  The Waukesha Mothers of Twins Club is made up of a really great group of women.

Everyone helped each other with everything…bringing stuff in, hanging clothes, displaying toys/gear.  We truly worked together and worked really hard to make it a great event.  Plus, almost every other member came in to shop and support us. There was one “incident” with a not so nice shopper, but it was handled with courtesy and respect.  I’m really proud to be a part of this group.

If you didn’t get a chance to shop.  Here are a few pictures from the event.  You won’t want to miss the Spring one!

I’m also lucky that I have a husband who let me sleep in and even nap today.  I was actually a little sore from hauling all the stuff in.  Better get back to working out!

Plus, these little monkeys were happy to see me when they got up from their nap on Saturday.  (Big brother monkey not pictured, as he was playing outside.)  I had left at 11 am Friday to set up, they were sleeping when I got home at 10 pm, left after giving them a brief kiss at 7:30 am Saturday morning, so finally saw them at 4:30 pm.

And I’m off to catch up on all the shows I missed this week while prepping my rummage stuff.  Anybody else watch Scandal?!?!  I can’t wait.  Hope I can stay awake.
