Happy Spring!
Spring is finally here. Well, at least according to the calendar. I’m really hoping the Wisconsin weather gets it together and gives us some sunshine this week. Someone just said snow is in the forecast for later this week, and that better be an early April Fool’s joke.
It’s a short week, with Mr. B being off school on Friday for Good Friday. He also has his Spring Party on Thursday, and I’m volunteering, so that should be fun.
Since it’s the beginning of Spring, I thought I would put together a Spring Bucket List for the family. I did one in the Fall, but skipped the Winter, so why not Spring?
Bucket List
Spend some time outdoors
Even though this Winter hasn’t been the coldest or snowiest, we’ve been cooped up inside for way too long. I want to get the twins, especially, outside. We have that giant playground set in the backyard just waiting to be played on. We also have a bunch of outdoor toys I’ve collected from Craigslist or rummage sales, so I’d like to get them cleaned off while the boys are playing.
Get Mr. B to ride a bike
He has a bike, which may or may not be too small for him, but he does not like to ride it. He says it is wobbly with the training wheels. Well, I have the perfect solution! Learn to ride without the training wheels. I will even get him a new bike, if that’s the motivation he needs.
I’m still convinced he’s my laziest child, opting to still ride in the cart at the grocery store. It would, however, be awesome if he could learn to ride. That way we could put the twins in the bike trailer, and take family bike rides.
Take a Day Trip or Two
I’d love to drive to Madison, walk along State Street, visit the zoo, and even sneak in a little shopping. I went to school there for my first year and a half before transferring to Arizona, so it would be fun to show the kids around.
My husband wants to take a visit to House on the Rock. If you’ve not been to WI, it’s exactly what it sounds like…a house built into the rocks. It has cool exhibits, and I remember a great lookout. It was a favorite site for school field trips when I was young.
Get and keep everyone healthy
Last week, I had to take the twins to the doctor (both had double ear infections,) and Saturday, it was urgent care for Mr. B (it just turned out to be a virus, even though they tested for Strep and Flu.) Luckily, Mr. B hasn’t had another ear infection, and the fluid seems to be getting better, but we’re not out of the flu/cold season quite yet. Fingers crossed we can make it until the end of the school year, and not have to get tubes.
Start Planning My 40th Birthday Trip
It’s less than 6 months away, and I know where I want to go, but now we’ve got to plan the logistics. I’m hoping some friends will meet us, and of course, all of my family. I’ll share the details soon, but it will involve a plane. No more read trips for a while.
That should about do it. I have plenty of other things to keep us busy…like potty training, preschool decisions, and of course, the March for Babies, so I’ll keep the bucket list manageable. What will you be doing this Spring? Any fun activities I can add?
I love the idea of doing a seasonal bucket list for your family! What a great way to set some fun goals and actually accomplish them. 🙂
Thank you!
Great little list here! Spending time outdoors and planning a day trip are also on my (unwritten) list. I’ll also add reading to the list because I’ve mastered book buying but the actual reading part is where I fall short! I suppose I’m more of a collector!
Ha! Me too. I’ve got two books checked out from the library right now, and haven’t even taken them out of my book bag.
It is starting to get warmer here as well! I can’t wait to be able to sit out on the deck and just read a good book!
That sounds amazing!
Planning trips is so much fun. Can’t wait to read where you’ll go!

Yay these are such great goals for the spring – and I’m so glad we’re finally able to start planning for spring instead of surviving winter!
Me too!
Oh…..I love planning a party. Do tell. 🙂
Oh, I will 😉
I always feel like spring is a great time to make new goals and bucket lists! The nicer weather really gets me motivated to do more.
Yes!!!
Oooooh I’m excited to hear about your birthday bash!! I love getting on airplanes–I don’t know why but it kind of solidifies being on vacation for be. And yes to getting outside once the weather really does warm up–been so cold here!
Agreed. We need sunshine!!!!
Great bucket list Shann!! I love the idea of being able to be outside more. Though here in TX being outside for too long during the Spring typically means 90 degree weather and being soaked in your sweat. Lol. The weather here has been a little crazy too. Not sure what is going on. It’s been in the 30’s recently while last week it was in the 90’s. Day trips are always a lot of fun! I am in the process of planning my 30th birthday which is in May. Can’t say I am thrilled about turning 30 but I am going to make the best of it.
I think my 30’s were the best, so I’m a little jealous. And I can’t even imagine 90 degrees right now. I have the space heater running on my feet 😉
Great idea to make a seasonal “bucket list.” Maybe I should do the same!! I’m with you on the get everyone healthy idea, it has been a rough year in my house for illnesses. We rarely get sick but this year can’t seem to shake the bugs! I’m looking forward to sun and fresh air. Hope the snow thing IS a joke!!
Yes! We have been pretty lucky these last few years, but this one I think we got everything that went around. I’m totally with you on the fresh air.
I can not wait for Spring weather!! Any ideas for your birthday trip! How fun!! I want to go somewhere but that won’t happen anytime soon!
I do! I will share it soon 🙂
Oh! I never really thought of making a seasonal bucketlist but you are inspiring me with you amazing list, thanks for the idea! Cannot wait to hear all about your birthday plans and party, perfect way to spend time outdoors maybe 🙂

Thank you Kusum!
I cannot wait to get outside AND take a few days trips, your bucket list sounds so similar to what I would want mine to be 🙂

Awesome. Thank you!
Ooh sounds like your birthday is going to be so much fun. I love seasonal bucket lists. Some of the activities on mine are planting flowers, flying a kite, a trip to the botanical gardens and make my own sidewalk chalk.
Oh! Your list sounds great! I want to learn how to make my own sidewalk chalk!
I think it’s great that they get Good Friday off school! Sounds like you have a great spring bucket list and I love the part about keeping everyone healthy. I second that! 6 months to go! Time is flying 🙂
It really is!
Great list!! I’m very much wanting to go on a hike this spring or summer. I’m not sure what it is, but I’m craving it! haha
We don’t own bikes, but I really want to rent some for at least a day. I’m in love with biking, and it would be a perfect spring activity. Love this!
Thank you!
awesome bucket list! I’m excited to purchase a bike and explore my downtown area. I also want to start taking ballet and maybe some other classes so I’m excited to try new things 🙂 thanks for the spring inspiration! I need to make a list now lol ♥
stop by and chat with me 🙂 http://storybookapothecary.com
Awesome! Let me know how you like your ballet class 🙂
thanks I will!
Have fun planning your birthday trip! I can’t wait for spring weather so we can get outside and enjoy our patio! Plus warm weather means grilling out and corn hole!
Those sound like fun activities! We need to work on bike riding too. We started and then stopped when they weren’t quite ready. I think they may be ready now. I can’t wait to see what you plan for your birthday trip: 0 )
Thank you Theresa! 🙂
Hi Shann 🙂
What a fantastic bucket list for Spring! Enjoy going thru your list! Getting healthy and getting outdoors are the 2 that will be great for your family 🙂
Thank you Joan.
Hi Shann,
Nice idea of sharing bucket list and you really have so much things on your To Do List for this season. Next month is my birthday month and also am going to San Diego and NYC for work. So that will keep me occupied! 🙂
Awesome! I hope you have a great birthday and some great trips.
Ooo… this is a GREAT list! I hope you’re able to accomplish all of them! <3
Thank you!
Awesome list Shann.
I’m sure you’ll get it all done. Just having it written down and shared with others is a great way to stay motivated and connected to your intentions.
Wow – so 40 is 6 mos away huh? Cool that you’re planning a trip.
My family came to visit me for mine, which was wonderful.
I am so, so, so ready for spring! I’m with you and can’t wait for more time outside. Midwest winters seem to drag on forever. I hope you enjoy every minute of planning your 40th birthday trip — so exciting!
Spring time is my favorite. I love it when the flowers start to bloom. I have daffodils in the snow.
Great bucket list. Happy early birthday!
Hooray for spring! And I love that pic of the Gerber daisy! I also can’t wait to get some more outside time. I usually don’t mind the cold, but when we hit 80 degrees a couple weeks ago it definitely got me in the mood for some warmth!
I sooo get the “get everyone healthy and keep them healthy” This winter has been crazy, hasn’t it. Great list, by the way. Have fun planning your trip ❤❤❤
Great bucket list!! I would like to ride my bike more as well! Happy 40th year to you! Xo
Great list! We had an issue with the bike, too, and we wound up starting him on a Strider bike, which has no pedals. That worked wonders! Now he rides a bike like a pro.
Unfortunately, he didn’t like that either. My son is just lazy 😉
I need to make a list of things I want to do too
We’re going to try and get Syrus to ride a bike over spring break, too! He got one for Christmas, but hasn’t hardly been on it yet!
You’ll have to let me know how it goes…and give me tips!
It’s only in the last five years I’ve wanted to visit the USA, and I think I want to add the House on the Rock to my list of places to visit, it sounds really cool.
Best of luck with your spring bucket list, I sure hope the weather picks up for you!
Thank you! If you ever come to WI, let me know 🙂
I love that you truly have the ability to check all of these things off your list. I have told myself that when it is nice out this summer, I am going to make it a point to get the kids outside as much as I can! Screw the housework!! LOL!
Ha! Ha! Yes, screw the housework!
Love your list. Spending more time outdoors is on my list as well. I feel as if with all the to do things that we end up staying indoors. Who says you can’t take school work or your laptop outdoors? 🙂
Exactly!
Hi, Shann
I love spring which gives feeling of life. Living few years in Racine, WI, I still remember there were snow everywhere until the middle of April.
You made yourselves pretty long list, Hope that you will able to complete them before the schedule. i believe it is very good idea to celebrate your 40 years birthday with a trip.
