Summer 2016 Bucket List Check

August 23, 2016 By Shann 17 Comments

Summer 2016

Summer 2016 is quickly coming to a close. I honestly didn’t remember what I had put on our Summer 2016 bucket list, so when I looked back at the old post, I was pleasantly surprised. We accomplished almost everything without even knowing it.

summer 2016 bucket list

  • Take the boys to their First Brewer’s Baseball Game (They all loved it! Plus, we also went to their first Packer’s Football game. It was only a scrimmage, but I think I’ll count it!)
  • Take the boys to their First Fireworks  (They were scared of the noise at first, but then loved it. “This is the best fireworks ever, Mommy!”)
  • Try to enjoy the 4th of July Parade (this is mostly a reminder for me!) (No epic meltdowns, not too much candy, and they all actually watched the parade!)
  • Go to Summerfest or a Church Festival (Both!!)
  • Go swimming (We did this on our Michigan Road trip, and will be swimming again in Vegas. It’s too hard to take all three to the pool by myself when we’re at home.)
  • Got to a new park (We’ve explored 2 new ones, and Grandpa has taken them to quite a few too)
  • Go to a Splash Pad  (On our Michigan Road trip and at our Twins’ Club Summer Party)
  • Have a Picnic (We had one to celebrate Mr. B’s last day of Summer School)
  • Have a Camp Fire (I didn’t fully get to enjoy it since I was on the Whole30, but the boys like the S’mores)
  • Camp in the backyard…or maybe the living room (Mr. B camped at our local zoo with Dad, and the twins are promised a living room camp-out when they are finally potty trained)

Here is some photographic proof!

Plus, we had a 4th of July Party, a NICUversary, went to our State Fair, celebrated both Grandma and Grandpa’s birthdays, went to a few movies, played in the sprinkler, and rode bikes. A pretty fun summer…and we’ve still got a little over a week to squeeze a few more things in.

For Mom and Dad

  • Go on a date to Summerfest (A huge music festival in Milwaukee)
  • Have a movie or drive-in date night
  • Go to dinner at a restaurant with an outdoor patio
  • Have a double date

I guess we didn’t do so hot on this part of the list. We definitely had fun with the family during all the stuff above, but it was really hard to make alone time. Our one true date night at Summerfest/Ryan Adams was a lot of fun, and I wish we could do it more often. I think we will make it a goal for the Fall to get a date in once a month.

Now, who wants to come babysit three well-behaved, perfect boys?

Congrats on getting a lot of things on your bucket list done. You can work on you and your sweetie next month. Just remember you two need time for yourselves as well 🙂

You did awesome as a family! I totally get not being able to prioritize your relationship… I think I’ve been on about 4 dates with my husband in two years (since our first was born). It’s nearly impossible with young kids! Keep trying 🙂

It’s a great feeling to see that you’ve done a lot of your list without even realizing it! We also are hoping to get a meal outside on a deck or patio of a restaurant this summer. There are lots of good ones in this area but it’s been too hot lately – we’ve finally got a breeze now so maybe sometime this week or next!

You accomplished so much this summer! I haven’t revisited my Summer Bucket List yet, mainly just because I’m in denial that summer is actually over and still want time to finish a few things. 🙂

Sounds like a great summer! We definitely did not get to all the things on our bucket list, but then again, we did some fun things that weren’t on our list so maybe it evens out…? 😉
