A look back at the year 2015
The year 2015 really went by in a blur. We had a lot of fun, a lot of challenges, and so many new things. Since it’s the last day of the year 2015, I wanted to share our top ten moments. Some are family moments, some are blog moments, a lot are kid moments, and some are me moments. A lot are a series of moments that make up one memory, but you get the general idea.
Now, I’m not saying these are the best moments, but the ones that made 2015 really stand out. They are in no particular order. I was going to try and put them in chronological order, but I gave up after my third revision.
#1 Toddler Bed Transition
The twins went from sleeping peacefully in their cribs, to climbing right out of them and tearing apart their room. I’ll admit that I didn’t handle the transition that well. In fact, there may have been a few tear filled phone calls to my husband, and a heap of all their belongings in the hallway by the time he got home from work. BUT, once we took everything out, took the changing tables off the beds, and took our naps one at a time, we got back into sleeping again.
#2 The Year to Celebrate Everything including a New Name
My first writing piece was published by an online publication called Mamalode. You can read the story HERE. It was the first time I ever submitted my writing anywhere, so it was pretty exciting.
There were also many changes on the blog this year, but the biggest was my name change. Even though it was upsetting at the time, I’m really happy with how everything turned out. I also got a brand new look to the blog from my good friend Cori over at Quality Websites on a Budget. She also has a blog called Not Now Mom’s Busy, and I’m excited to announce I will be a contributor there this year.
#3 May the 4th be with You
We Marched for Babies with the March of Dimes, and our team shirts had a Star Wars’ theme, since the twins were born on May 4th. We raised over $3000 dollars to help babies have a healthier start in life. We also were chosen as the Ambassador Family for the 2016 March for Babies.
#4 A Day out with Thomas and Bay Beach
Since the March for Babies was really close to the twins third birthday, we decided to take a road trip to celebrate instead. We headed to Green Bay for a Day Out with Thomas, then had a lot of fun at Bay Beach Amusement Park. It was the first time all three boys went on rides. I have to say I think I had more fun watching them than they did on the rides…and they had A LOT of fun.
#5 Micro Preemie Mondays
In June, I started a series to spread awareness for the smallest and bravest fighters. This series has been so embraced by readers, and I am so honored to bring one amazing story after the next each Monday. Thank you for helping me in my mission to spread awareness about Premature Birth.
#6 Summer School/Lessons
Not only was I busy blogging away, but my boys had activities for the first time this summer. My oldest started summer school to prepare him for Kindergarten, and all three took both swimming and tumbling lessons. We also had a babysitter for the first time, which was a HUGE help…especially to my parents who help me out A LOT.
Summer school was fun for my oldest, although the drop-off/pick-up situation was a little crazy. Swim lessons were also good. Tumbling? Not so much.
#7 My Baby Started Kindergarten
And speaking of school, my oldest started KINDERGARTEN. Sniff. Sniff. To say I was in denial, was putting it mildly. I may or may not have followed his bus to school the first day just to make sure he got there OK. Just don’t tell him that.
#8 Back at the Barre
As you read in my post yesterday, I finally found my groove with healthy eating and fitness. Not only did we join a gym, but I got back into taking Ballet class. I think my first time back at the bar was one of my happiest moments this year. I found my way back to something that I’ve always loved, and it was like I hadn’t ever left.
#9 We had a birthday or 5
As I mentioned, we celebrated the twins’ birthday with a road trip. We celebrated my husband’s birthday with a dinner with friends.
This year marked the beginning of the end for me…well, the end of my 30’s. I wrote myself a list for the year, and I’m slowly checking things off.
My oldest turned 6, and we continued on with our Star Wars theme. I may have gone a little overboard, but it was worth it.
#10 Happy Holidays
Even though he didn’t get to dress up for my favorite holiday at school, my oldest still had a fun party. Plus, we dressed up as a family, went to a party, and got lots of candy trick or treating.
I hope you liked reminiscing about our year 2015 as much as I did. I know I missed a ton of other great stuff, but we’ve got some New Year’s Eve partying to do…in our PJ’s of course. I’m really excited to see what 2016 brings. Cheers to the New Year!
