April goals, mid-month check

April Goals

I’m hoping looking at my April goals will motivate me into some action for the rest of the month. As you read yesterday, I’m in a bit of a rough patch. I’m not doing so great with what I want to accomplish, so I’m hoping this will push me into action, and maybe motivate you too?

The Goals

1.Continue to fundraise and meet our Goal for the March of Dimes March for Babies

This is a huge one. I finished my Online auction, but it wasn’t quite as successful as I was hoping. I’m thinking of taking the twins and hitting up the neighborhood door-to-door. I’m all out of other ideas on how to raise funds at this point. I think I’ve exhausted email and Facebook. However, if you are feeling generous, and want to make a change in the health of a baby, even a donation of $10 would help. You can just go to http://www.marchforbabies.org/shanneva

2.Go on a date night

We did go out for my husband’s birthday, and had a good time. We ate dinner with friends, and then had a few drinks at a bar close by. I’d like to get in another one-on-one before the month is over, but the babysitter situation is not working in our favor.

3.Cut back on sugar in preparation for healthier eating in May (I’m thinking I might try the Whole 30)

I had gone for a week with just water, and cut out tea that I usually sweeten, so that was good. I’m being more diligent about finding the hidden sugar in labels, and still preparing mentally for this one.

I’m also on the list for the new book by Rocco Dispirito, and am on hold to read the Whole 30 book too.

4.Really work on the Family Changes I wrote about in this post

The changes that I wanted to make were:

  • Less Food Waste
  • More help cleaning up
  • Less technology
  • More movement

This is also a work in progress. I’ve been really good about making the kids finish the food they ask for, or not having anything else until the next meal time. However, dinner has still been a huge struggle, with no one wanting to eat.

The kids still make huge messes, but have been helping put away toys during the day. Mr. B needs a major room clean, and is scheduled for tonight or no Minecraft…which leads into the less technology that’s not been happening.

As for more movement, we went to one of those family fun places over the weekend, and there was a ton of running. I also bought Mr. B a new bike, but the weather (the snow!) has not been cooperating.

Well, that’s the update. As I said at the beginning, I’m hoping this look at my April goals will motivate me to really get to work this second half of the month.

How are you doing this month?

I am so excited by your March of Dimes event. After all of the hard work that you and your husband are doing to help others you certainly deserve a date night!

Go on TWO date nights!! Girlfriend you deserve it (although I totally know how hard it is to get out, find a sitter, etc etc).

Glad you were able to get out to celebrate! And the cutting down to just water for a whole week sounds so challenging to me. I’ve been drinking tea with honey and flavored sparkling water – so much better than pop, but it’s still not completely natural.

I really want to cut back on sugar as well. I like your fourth goal, including less food waste.

Great job on doing well with your mid month check! I think it has just been one of those weeks where motivation has not been there. I’m so happy you got to go on a date night! I know that was much needed. I can’t wait to see what you accomplish by the end of the month. 🙂
