DIY Peanuts Inspired Treat Bags

October 26, 2016 By Shann 31 Comments

Peanuts

Another successful birthday party in the books! Peanuts, featuring a lot of Charlie Brown inspired decorations, was the theme.

Photos from our Peanuts inspired party

I’ll admit I may have convinced Mr. B that this would be a cool birthday party theme. I got him in the mood by watching the Peanuts movie, breaking out our Snoopy tent, and letting all three kids dress up for a Peanuts photo shoot.

Even with that expression, I promise Mr. B was having fun.

I had been saving up Peanuts decorations that I found on clearance, and I also realized I could reuse a ton of our Minion decorations. Yellow minions turned into yellow Charlie Brown inspired decor!

I’m going to show you exactly how I reused everything next week, but today, I wanted to share my signature party treat bag.

I give each party guest a paper bag to collect all of their pinata candy. There has to be a pinata, of course. It has become one of our party traditions.

They could also be used to give as party favors. This time, I even used a few as party decorations.

Bags of Parties Past

In case you missed them, here are a few from past parties.

First, from Mr. B’s Star Wars inspired party:

2015 party

And from the Twins’ NICUversary:

For this party, I went simple. By simple, I mean I only needed two things:

  • The Bags
  • Black Sharpies

Even simpler for you, just click-through the pictures below to buy the products through my Amazon Affiliate links. No extra charge to you. Please see my Disclosure Policy for more details.

I decided to use different colored bags to represent the different Peanuts characters.

  • Yellow = Charlie Brown
  • Blue = Lucy
  • White = Snoopy
  • Red = Linus (or Mr. B thought Snoopy’s dog house)
  • Green = Peppermint Patty

I then looked at each character, and used the Sharpie to draw their signature style. Separately, you might not be able to tell each of them, but together, I thought they looked pretty good.

So, I decided to take one of each bag, glue it to a poster board, and use it as another decoration.

They definitely don’t need to be perfect. They are for the kids, and they just add to the theme of the party. You could always stick the characters in front of the bags to help people out!

So, there you have it. A little peek at our Peanuts party. Next week, I’ll be sharing more of our DIY decorations and party pictures.

Do you like throwing theme birthday parties? Do you have any Peanuts lovers in your house?

OMG, how CUTE is this?! Okay, I’m actually a HUGE Peanuts nerd… as in, I named my first dog (a beagle, actually) Linus (not Snoopy, though that would have made sense, because he used to carry his blankie everywhere). I live for this theme 🙂
