Labor Day Weekend Recap

September 8, 2015 By Shann 75 Comments

Hello! Welcome back to the week. It feels like Monday!Did you have a great Labor Day weekend? Most of our weekend was filled with family, fun, and food. There were a few bumps, but mostly a great weekend. Let’s take a look back.

tape edges (2)

Saturday was a really busy day. My husband had to show a house in the morning, then when he came home, I got to head out with my Mom to do some shopping at the Outlet Mall. Woo Hoo!

When I got back, it was time for my first birthday dinner. Our family, along with my Mom and Dad, all went to a Japanese Steak House. We figured the twins would be entertained by the cooking and fire, but their reactions were so funny. They were a little afraid, a little in awe, and definitely entertained. They certainly did not want the big flame to happen again…once was enough at our table. They did watch it at the neighboring table again.

tape edges (1)

All three boys ate really well, and were very excited about the ice cream and sherbet at the end. They hadn’t had a nap, so by the time we finished, they were ready for bed.

Sunday, both me and my husband got a workout in. Unfortunately, there isn’t child care on Sundays until after Labor Day weekend, so we took turns. I took a class, came home, then he went to lift weights. I’ll fill you in more on the classes I’ve been taking tomorrow.

The twins had been up super early, so I tried to get them to take an early nap.

Big Mommy Fail.

I put my little guy in first, then my big guy 15 minutes later, like usual. Well, neither was sleepy. They proceeded to run around their room, rip the gate from the wall, and were about to get into their dresser, when I stopped. them.

I was so afraid they would pull the dresser on themselves, that I had my husband take the gate out, then we took the dresser out too. I got pretty upset at how they were so naughty, and it almost ruined our date night…but I didn’t let it.

My In-laws came over to babysit, and we got out of the craziness.

birthday

We ate at a Mexican restaurant, then went out for a drink where a friend joined us too. The drinks were much needed after the nap time shenanigans.

Finally, Monday, my husband tried to let me sleep in, but the kids weren’t having it. We opened my presents, then I ran out to the store. I got back home, and we all headed over to my parent’s house for burgers and cake.

birthday (1)

I had dessert for the first time in a looooong time. It was delicious!!! Although, my bigger guy liked it the most.

birthday (2)

These 2 also were pretty big fans.

birthday (3)

My husband then took the kids home to nap (which only my oldest did, and ps. my husband bolted the dresser to the wall in the room, so they are safe) so me and my Mom could watch Bachelor in Paradise on her DVR. I know. I know. But, it’s really addicting! Plus, it was my birthday!

Overall, I had a really great weekend. I did not stick to my regular healthy eating plan, however, I did eat in moderation, and worked out, so I still feel good. I’ll be sharing more about how I keep the balance tomorrow.

Hope you had a great weekend too!

Oh! Before I leave you, I wanted to tell you that I did my first 2 Periscopes this weekend too. What is Periscope?! It’s like YouTube, but it’s a live broadcast. It’s really nerve-wracking, but so fun to watch everyone else. There’s a whole group of bloggers doing a Scope a day for September, so just look for #SeptemberScopers You can follow me @Shanneva

Okay, that’s so funny. On Saturday I went to the outlet mall with my parents and husband to shop for my birthday. And we followed it up with dinner at a Japanese steak house. What are the odds? πŸ˜‰

I’m in Wisconsin, but I did get some great deals. The Gap Outlet had an extra 20% off, and the Nike Outlet had an extra 30% off women’s shoes…which I desperately needed. πŸ™‚

Jackson would climb over baby gates. All kinds of baby gates. I figured this out when he was 7 months old and managed to not only climb out of his crib, but over the baby gate at the top of the stairs and slid all of the way down the carpeted stairs on his belly. I am not kidding you when I tell you I peed my pants. I was holding Olivia, who was 3 at the time and trying to get her to settle in for a nap when I saw him coming full speed down the stairs!!
