Birthday Party Time!

October 8, 2015 By Shann 66 Comments

It’s that time of year again…Birthday Party Time! In less than a week, my oldest will be turning 6-years-old.

Happy

That is a little crazy to me. What’s also crazy is that we have a birthday party coming up on Sunday, and I’m feeling a little unprepared. Yes, I have been buying decorations for quite a while now, and yes, we have made a list of the food we want to serve, but that’s about it.

No, wait. I also ordered the cake today.

I know. I know. You ordered a cake, and aren’t making it?! Yes. Baking is not my strong suit, and I’m not going to stress myself out when I know I can get a delicious cake made at a great price. Thank you Sam’s Club.

What I do like to make is the decorations. I love having a theme and running with it. If you’ve seen my previous party posts, you know I tend to go a little overboard.

Here are a few examples:

I didn’t “Monkey” around when it came to decorating his 1st Birthday party…actually, yes I did! It was complete with balloon palm trees, and banana shots for the adults. Our house is still overrun with stuffed monkeys.

Our Little Monkey (1)

It was a 2nd Smurfday party, out in the sunshine. We really lucked out with some beautiful weather in October that year.smurfy

Even though his traintastic crew was small for his 3rd birthday because the twins just got home from the NICU, we still had a fantastic time with everything Thomas.

summerb (3)

His 4th birthday was so good it was scary. Who doesn’t love blue and green food and Monsters everywhere?

Happy (2) Happy (1)

For his 5th birthday it was Minion Madness.

I had a LOT of fun with that one.

However, this year I’m way behind. I haven’t made one single thing. Ugh.

I do, however, have all my supplies. I just need to find some time and get to it. Actually, I’m going to stop writing, and do it right now.

Any guesses on what the theme will be this year? Leave it in the comments, and I’ll give you a hint in Sunday’s post, with a full party recap on Tuesday.

Oh my gosh, I love all of your themes – the Monsters Inc. one especially looks so cool! I think you may have told me what the upcoming theme is so I’ll refrain from guessing. If I’m remembering correctly I am super looking forward to the party recap!

I love the Monster’s Inc. party, so cute! And I totally agree about cake. I love to bake but when it comes to parties, it’s so nice sometimes to just order that and take some of the party stress off my shoulders!

Why not do a Lego theme? There are a TON of great (and easy) Lego theme party ideas on there that wouldn’t be hard to pull off! We did a Minion party for Jackson’s 6th birthday and we had a Box of Shame. It was hilarious. Every kid took turns in the box. πŸ™‚

Our girls’ birthdays are one week apart in late January and early February…so once October hits it feels like a roller coaster of holidays and birthdays. Have fun planning!
