I had a really nice Mother’s Day weekend.
Before I go into the recap, I just wanted to give you a little update on my new health plan. It’s day 7, and I’m proud to say that I’ve stuck with the healthy eating! I’ve even lost 3 lbs! I’ve alternated between eating my protein shake for dinner or for lunch. I keep track of everything on the computer, and have been taking my vitamins every morning. It is definitely not easy, and I’m hungry most of the day, but I know it will be worth it when I can fit into my clothes and feel better. It’s been really eye-opening to see how many calories I eat on a daily basis. Before this plan, I must have been eating about 10,000 a day. Ok. Not really. But, I am definitely eating waaaay less now. The exercise hasn’t been as consistent, but I think it will get better as I get used to the eating portion. I went on a walk, and did my ballet class, which doesn’t even feel like exercise to me. Did I mention how much I LOVE it?
So, back to Mother’s Day….
I woke up late (Yes! I got to sleep in!) to these beautiful flowers. My husband had all three boys dressed already, which was another huge present in and of itself. I then got my presents: A nice, big heating pad for my back (which I asked for,) and a Hello Kitty Backpack. In case you don’t know, I have a bit of a Hello Kitty obsession. There was also supposed to be a hand print painting, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a disaster, according to my husband. He still gets an “A” for effort. To make up for it, my oldest made me this beautiful painting:
My husband then got the kids’ shoes on and into the car, while I scrambled to get ready for brunch. We were meeting my parents and my husband’s parents at a restaurant downtown. We’ve actually been going to the same restaurant since I was pregnant the first time. We did miss two years (one when the twins were born, one during the isolation year,) so it nice to be there.
I kept with my healthy eating, and just had eggs. The boys all split french toast, and everyone was pretty well-behaved. We even had a woman stop by our table and tell us what a beautiful family we had. That made me feel really awesome. I tried to take “selfies” with each kid, but I’ve determined I really am terrible. You be the judge.
After brunch, I got the whole afternoon to myself. Originally, I planned on going shopping with my mom, but my parents won tickets to the baseball game, so I was on my own. I browsed the mall, got some great deals on clothes for the kids, then went over to my parent’s house. They were back by this time, so me and my mom watched a little “reality” TV and just relaxed. I decided to try to get home before the babies went to sleep for the night. To be fair, they go to sleep around 6:30 pm, so it wasn’t that I was gone super late.
When I got home, it was just my husband and oldest up. He said the twins didn’t nap, but he had just put them to bed, so I could go and say good night. I was a little afraid it might make them want to get back up, but when I went in, each was sound asleep snoring away. Guess they had a pretty good Mother’s Day too.

Sounds like a perfect day! (And those flowers are beautiful! Good job, family!) =)
Shann says
Thank you! Yes, my husband knows I prefer a variety of flowers rather than roses. 🙂

Your kids are so cute! There is nothing in the world like handmade art from your kids. So beautiful. Happy Mother’s Day!

Thank you so much!!

I always have to laugh at the difference in mother’s day and father’s day in my house. On mother’s day, I want to spend the day with my daughter and hubby and do things together that we normally wouldn’t do. But on father’s day, I can guarantee daddy will be golfing with friends all day.
Regardless, I am glad you got to do what you enjoy 🙂 Happy Mother’s Day!
Shann says
That’s funny…and very true. I’m sure my husband will be out working outside by himself on Father’s Day, but we always have a meal together as a family.

Isnt it crazy once you start counting calories you realize just how much you had been eating?! It is always a major wakeupcall for me! I love that your Mother’s day involved watching reality TV since that is my favorite way to enjoy time to myself!
Shann says
Yes! I can’t believe how many I must have been eating before. What’s your favorite reality TV show?

Good for your for sticking to healthy eating on Mother’s Day, and at brunch no less! I wish I could say the same (pizza and ice cream . . . yikes!). And how nice to have the whole afternoon to yourself!
Shann says
Thank you! It was really hard, but hopefully will be worth it.

Congratulations! I recently gave up meat and managed to gain five pounds, so I’m trying to figure out how to eat even more healthy 😉
Shann says
Yeah, I don’t eat much meat, so I’d probably gain if I gave it up completely too. Healthy eating is hard!
